Days of Our Lives: Not the TV Show but an Exhibition drawing on the Permanent Collection of The Nickle Arts Museum

John Murchie

Festivals: M:ST 4 Biennial | October 3 - 17, 2008.

Days of Our Lives examines the very nature of a museum’s permanent collection and the process of exhibiting works from that collection. Working within the gallery space over the course of two weeks, Murchie makes this usually unseen act public: becoming accountable for choices and decisions and involving the public in unforeseen ways. The exhibition is based on The Nickle Art Museum’s permanent collection of over 5,000 works of art and will begin as an empty, content-less space. New work will be added gradually as the content of the exhibition itself evolves, drawing on the accumulated wealth of the collection, the experience of the curator and, not least, the audience.

Presented with the support of the Alberta Foundation for the Arts.
