Festivals: M:ST 8 Biennial October 1 - 26, 2016.
Friday, October 21 – Wednesday, October 26
Existing in the interstices of M:ST8, sophia bartholomew will hold a series of “book club” meetings in response to the festival’s other programming. These gatherings will consider a selection of images, objects, words and sounds, while their context and content shift throughout the festival to mirror themes and strategies used in other artists’ performances. To document the project, bartholomew will develop an artist book that asks: What does it mean to be heard? Does it hurt?
A graduate of the University of British Columbia, sophia bartholomew has exhibited and performed extensively across Canada.
This project is supported by The City of Calgary Open AiR artist residency program. For more information, visit calgary.ca/openair
